The History of the Great Dane Puppies
The Great Dane breed originated in Germany and is most likely a descendant of the English mastiff and Irish wolfhound. Great Danes are one of the largest breeds of dogs in the world and Great Dane puppies grow very fast. The current world record holder for tallest dog is a Great Dane as well. Great Dane’s are short haired and come in a variety of different colors, from black to fawn to grey and even spotted similar to a dalmation. The Growth of Great Dane Puppies
Great Dane puppies will grow rapidly, reaching a minimum of 100lbs within the first 18 months. Some great Danes have been known to top 200lbs when fully matured. Owning a Great Dane puppy will require rigorous training as they can be quite destructive if they are able to run around and bump into things within a house. Making sure that the puppy obeys and is able to calm down during moments of hyperactivity is crucial.
Unlike some puppies as well, a Great Dane puppy will be under quite a bit of physical stress when they are growing. Because of the rate of their growth where some breeds need lots of exercise in puppy stages, Great Dane puppies will sleep quite a lot and should not be over exercised. Over exercising a dog which is constantly growing can lead to joint and bone problems as some parts of the body may grow faster than others and it might lead to strain on the legs and vital organs during intense activity.
Elevating a bowl during eating is also something that should be done as your Great Dane puppies grow. If the bowl is brought to the dogs height it will allow them to eat faster and have less air which is swallowed with a meal when the bowl is placed on the floor. This can lead to bloating and discomfort after eating for the little great dane puppies.
Commonly Great Danes will about 6-8 years from the stage of Great Dane Puppies to adult maturation. Because of their size they are quite prone to Heart disease simply because of all of the work it takes pumping the blood through such a large animal.
Great Danes make for lovely pets and can be one of the most gentle and loving breed of dogs you will ever find. Through proper training and by keeping an eye on their health you can raise Great Dane puppies to be happy and healthy new member of your family.
